Holsten sadly passed away on the 15th July 08 and will always be remembered in our hearts forever. Here's our memorial page for him, so he can be remembered by
everyone also.
Holsten or Black Cosmos was awarded his 'Grand Champion' title by the Intercontinental Kennel Club on the 3rd July 2000. His total recorded weight pull was 1,410lbs, although he
had pulled higher in training. His weight was about 49lbs fit. He didn't need No toys/treats or sticks to lure him to do weight pull as it should be and he knew what to do on command. Holsten was a fantastic dog and anybody who saw him at events knows what a great dog he was. If you have any pictures of him please e-mail us them here.
I will never ever forget the first time I met Holsten. I dropped Chris off at home as he was drunk and I worked behind the bar and he said to me " I'll just go and get my dog to show you" he had bored
me senseless all night about him and how he could pull weights and how special he was, so I let him show me him and he brought him out to the car. No romantic gesture at all (we weren't a couple
then) or no invite in, but he had to bring Holsten out to the car to show me. I would love to say I was impressed, but I hadn't got the Stafford bug yet, so I politely said "yes his nice" and patted him on
the head. Then Chris took me to some training days with Ed Reid
and it was there I realised what a special dog he was and what a tight bond him and Chris had together. Holsten would do anything for him and was very well behaved all the time. He just stood at
Chris's heel with his guard up due to the quantity of other dogs but not making a sound and very still just watching and taking it all in. Anywhere we went he was so well behaved with adults, kids and
other dogs. Apart from our friend Taz's dog Snow Stormer apparently. Ed Reid always had nice things to say about him. Click here to read some reviews writen by Ed Reid. BESTFRIENDS FOREVER!!
Chris also has told me the story many times of when he first picked him up and having to
chose between 13 pups in the litter. Well he made the right decision, but unfortunately we haven't got any photos of him as a pup.
Thanks for looking and remembering him |
